Who are Heresy?
Heresy is a band that has been together a long time (about 25 years). For the most part, the lineup has been Scott Harris: Keyboards, Tony Garone: Vocals, acoustic guitar, and flute, John Sergio: Bass guitar, flute, tin whistle, Chris Camilleri: Drums, vocals, flute and Ed Clark: Electric guitar
They have had the pleasure of working with several additional guitar players. These kind folk are Billy Brown (Island), Dave Kaelin, Anthony Garone Jr., and on their first album At the Door, the one and only Steve Vai played on several songs. They have released the aforementioned album At the Door and a Compact Disc A Far Cry.
AT THE DOOR

At The Door was Heresy's first album. Recorded in 1985 at Don Casale and Metro Gnome studios and produced by Heresy. This album represents years of working and playing together as a band. Heresy formed around 1972, so they had lots of songs by 1985. "We picked what we thought were the best songs we had at the time, Hungry Spiders being my personal favorite..." explains Tony Garone, singer of the band, "and recorded them on 24 tracks. These songs were written largely by Scott and I, although a great deal of input and arrangement came from the other members of the band. We were very pleased with the results. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun recording this album, and perhaps because it was our first release, it retains a certain innocence and nostalgia for us all."
The incredible Steve Vai is a guest guitarist on this album, and transforms the song "London 1941" into a fiery epic. Steve's comments on the album can be viewed here. The photograph on the album cover is from a trip Scott Harris took to England. It is a wall surrounding the Tower of London, (which can be seen through the bars of the doorway) apparently, it is at this wall that heretics were tortured. BTW, the group's message is a musical one, not a political/religious one, so don't get any ideas...that would be "heresy". Heresy plans to release a remixed version of this album on compact disc, so stay tuned.

For most of it's existence, Heresy has performed/written/recorded music in the style of 70's progressive rock era (King Crimson,Yes, ELP, Jethro Tull etc.) however, to pigeonhole or categorize them would be unfair and inaccurate, as their music has many surprising twists to it. Specifically their compact disc, A Far Cry, where musical diversity is commonplace.
In addition to recording material, Heresy also plays at the annual Jethro Tull convention typically held in the north east where they perform their interpretation of music by that band. For further information on Heresy, email us.
